3rd International Lattice Field Theory Network Workshop

"Future Opportunities: Ab Initio Calculations at the Physical Quark Masses"
October 3-6, 2005
Jefferson Lab, Newport News

Organizers:

Robert Edwards, Balint Joo, David Richards, and Tony Thomas

Sponsors:

International Lattice Field Theory Network (ILFTN), Jefferson Laboratory

Objective:

This is the third in a series of biannual informal workshops, following those at Izu in Japan and Edinburgh in Scotland, whose purpose is to encourage international co-operation, co-ordination and collaboration in lattice field theory through the early exchange of ideas and results.

The ILFTN is a research program sponsored by Japan's JSPS aiming at building and expanding a co-operative international framework in lattice field theories among universities and research institutions in Japan, Germany, the UK and the USA. It is motivated by the growth of multinational computing and data sharing infrastructures, particularly the International Lattice Data Grid, that are creating new opportunities for collaborative research in lattice field theory.

Jefferson Lab is funded by the Office of Science for the US Department of Energy. As a user facility for scientists worldwide, its primary mission is to conduct basic research of the atom's nucleus at the quark level.

This 3rd ILFTN Workshop will comprise pedagogical introductions to topics in lattice QCD by invited speakers/discussion leaders, each linked to a set of short contributed presentations of recent results and a discussion session. The workshop is open to all researchers in the field.

Proceedings

There will be no published proceedings, but we will place PDF files of all presentations on the workshop web pages.

Financial Support

Participants are expected to cover their own costs. Some financial assistance may be available for ILFTN members through their national ILFTN co-ordinators: Akira Ukawa (Japan), Karl Jansen (Germany), and Bob Sugar (USA).
